Dense phase pneumatic conveying is a method of transporting dry, bulk materials through a pipeline using a gas, typically air, as the conveying medium. Unlike dilute phase conveying, where material is suspended in a high-velocity air stream, dense phase conveying moves material in a more concentrated manner at lower velocities.


How Dense Phase Conveying Works


In a dense phase system, a lower velocity, high-pressure gas stream is used to move material through the pipeline. The material is introduced into the pipeline in slugs or plugs, with a higher solids-to-air ratio compared to dilute phase conveying. This mode of transport minimizes the material's contact with the pipeline walls.
